On October 29th, 2021, I projected Stockhausen's electronic masterwork GESANG DER JÜNGLINGE in the last concert of the Beethovenfest series 2020 / 2021. The COVID-19 pandemic put the concert's original plans for 2020 to a halt and it had to be reschedule for 2021.
The program was quite unique. Not only was GESANG DER JÜNGLINGE performed for the second time since its composition in 1956 in Cologne's Cathedral (Kölner Dom) but it was also played in between the Gloria and the Credo of Beethoven's Missa Solemnis! It was a fantastic experience for me and I will always be thankful to the Stockhausen Foundation for recommending me to the Beethovenfest organisation to do the job as klangregisseur. A big thank should also go to sound engineer Reinhard Klose with whom I worked before in 'aus LICHT' and in the Stockhausen Courses in Kürten; his sound design for the cathedral was simply extraordinary.
